$5 for a Bag of Books

Shelves The College Women’s Club of Montclair has been busy sorting, stacking and pricing books for their Annual Book and Music Sale April 7th through April 16.  In addition to the thousands of hardcovers and paperback books, they are organizing rare books, sheet music, LP’s, CD’s, DVD’s, and books on tape.  There is also a large selection of autographed books.  All items are donated.

Lincoln_long Among the books at this year’s sale is a copy of The Life and Public Services of Abraham Lincoln. New York: J. C. Derby and N. C. Miller, 1865.  Even older than that is Thomas Reid's An Inquiry into the Human Mind on the Principles of Common Sense, first published in 1764.  The edition available at the sale was published in 1818.  The asking price for this book has not yet been determined.

There is also a multiple volume set titled “The Collected Papers of Charles Sanders Pierce,” which was published by Harvard University Press in 1933.  Included with this set is personal correspondence between Pierce and Mathew Mellon, who funded the publication of these volumes.
