It's the church that helped this family in Irvington, but did you know it also had a star turn on The Sopranos? St. George's in Clifton appeared on an episode way back in Season 4 involving Carmela and her gal pals at church.
This weekend, it's not zeppoles but loukoumades, those addictive fried balls of dough drenched in honey and dusted with cinnamon, that folks will be clamoring for at the church's Clifton Greek Festival. If savory's more your thing, check out this menu which includes souvlaki of course, and my personal fave, grilled octopus. Rides and fun for the kiddies, too. Hours here.

Like a phoenix rising out the ashes, Round Trip Fare is back in business -- at a new location. Montclair's loss is Bloomfield's gain as owner Heather Maione opens in her new space at 116 Broughton Avenue.
This Friday night, drop by for the opening and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine with dinner. Round Trip Fare's menu, wonderful wait staff and chef remain; the new restaurant will be BYOB. Phone is still 973-783-TRIP.
In other restaurant news, Dolce Bistro is no more. Commenters on the Food page reported that the Walnut street Italian, located in walking distance of two other Italians (Corso 98 and Marzullo's) is now closed. Dolce had been up for sale; now a sign on the door indicates a French restaurant should open in its place this month. We'll keep you posted.

If you come to Baristanet for all your food news, you're coming to the right place. Havana Sandwich Cafe, profiled here, is now getting props from the Star Ledger. And remember Amazing Hot Dog? Word on the Food page is that the Verona shop will reopen in early May.

Forget the parting of the red sea. The real holiday miracle is having a Passover seder at home without the plague of a messy kitchen. What's the trick? Go to Food.

Why is this Italian restaurant different from any other restaurant? In our mailbox from Fascino...
Hello,
The DePersio Family would like to thank our Jewish customers with a small gesture during Passover week. We will supply Matzah Shmuroh in place of bread on request. Please also feel free to ask your waiter about flourless dishes on the menu. Cynthia has prepared several flourless desserts for an after dinner treat. Please call the restaurant for reservations.
For goyim (folks eating crusty loaves of bread this week), Shmurah matzah is the creme de la creme of matzah, because it's heavily guarded. Wondering what it tastes like? Think handmade cardboard as opposed to machine-made cardboard. Mangia!
