  • On TV: Glen Ridge historian Neil Baldwin will be interviewed on WMBC-63 TV in West Caldwell about a recent speech on The Marshall Plan. Channel 20, between 5 and 6 pm.
  • Renaissance Poetry Jam: Live Jazz Trio,  artwork on display from Justin Canha, and poetry readings from eigth graders at Renaissance. BYO, 7-9pm  $5.00 at the door, $5.00 per table dining minimum . Mango’s Reggae Café  180 Bloomfield Avenue, Monclair. 973-744-7770
  • Fashion For A Good Cause: "Sisters on the Runway," a completely student-run fashion show to benefit Shelter Our Sisters, a shelter for victims of domestic violence.   • Healthy Kids Day Carnival:  family sports and activities at the Montclair Y, including hip hop, dodgeball, belly dancing, obstacle course, raquetball, spin cycling and water carnival in the pool. Prizes.4-7 p.m. Free for everyone! Park Street, Montclair.
  • Charity Coffeehouse: featuring local acts on at the Amazon Café to benefit Goals For Life, a Montclair non-profit started by soccer-playing moms to raise money for women’s health initiatives. 7:30 -10 p.m.  Admission $8 . Amazon Café, 7 North Willow Street, Montclair.
  • “A Musical Mystery” presented by the Montclair Dapper Dans of Harmony, an program of many barbershop quartets. 8 p.m. James Caldwell High School Auditorium, Westville Avenue, West Caldwell. $15. For reservations: 973-746-4433

Sunday, April 9

  • Classical Concert: Chaim Zemach, founder of the Bassan string quartet and principal cellist at the Chautauqua Symphony, performs Khatchaturian:  Concerto (1946) with Guerguan Tsenov, piano, and Brahms:  Sonata in F major, op.99 with Gildo Di Nunzio, piano. 4:30 pm Montclair State University, McEachern Recital Hall. Free.
  • Black Maria Film Festival: a juried, Academy Award qualifying film festival known for its fresh, new, short works reflecting the latest trends in animation, documentary, fictional and experimental film. 2 p.m; AMC Essex Green West Orange.
