...serving up your daily dish.
Not sure what's more insulting to New Jersey: The fact that Johnny "Sack" marries off his oldest daughter and goes all the way to Long Island, for a reception at Leonard's of Great Neck?
Or that former NJ Governor Jim McGreevy decides to shack up with his sweetie in Plainfield, NJ? From the New York Post...
McGreevey - rumored to have gotten a hefty six-figure advance for his upcoming bio, "The Confession" - and O'Donnell have asked real-estate agents and homeowners to sign confidentiality agreements "They just want a big house, with some measure of privacy, in a town that will welcome and accept them, and not make a big deal," said one insider.
Jim, we've got plenty of big houses here, and we'd all welcome and accept you (although the privacy thing might be tricky...)
Long Island??? maybe they're "friends of ours" soooooooo fergedaboutit

You nit-wits....Johnny Sack is part of the NY mob family.

My LI contingent tells me that Leonard's is THE place to have your catered affair, especially if you have the uh, right connections.

I think that a house in Plainfield will put Jim closer to his ex-wife and young child who I believe are in a house closer to that part of NJ (i.e., somewhere in Union County) than they are to Montclair.

Why is Jim McGreevy still news? Stop giving him press and maybe he will go away!!

I know you can get a lot more for your money in Plainfield than in Montclair, and there's a very pretty section of it where a lot of gay families live.

One place Leonard's has, which no place in the general Montclair area can match, is plenty of free parking. Acres of it. The main parking lot alone is bigger than many downtowns in this state in area.

and speaking of the Sopranos, was it really necessary to see Tony vomit, not once, but TWICE. Ughh. I could have certainly done without that visual.

What's wrong with Montclair? You mean besides it being a Glen Ridge wannabe?

Plainfield has a lot of potential. Sleepy Hollow is beautiful. Many of the victorians off Park Ave. have been restored, the downtown has many interesting buildings and public transportation is available.
BTW, Plainfield is known as the Queen City.

"there's a very pretty section... where gay families live."
pretty, as opposed to manly.

Good to see that even in 2006 a reference to a gay guy is going to bring out the pretty, nail salon jokes. Right on my conservative brothers. Real men would be down at the Duke lacrosse house gang banging chicks no doubt.

MIC,
The "joke" was the Google search.
To wit:
"Beard and Moustache Removal"
(see the top of the page, in YELLOW highlight)
If you were as observant as you are quick to judge, you'd have noticed that.

ROC, if you were as attentive to the results of the search as you are quick to claim that you're unfairly judged, you would notice that you posted a list primarily of beauty salons and day spas in a posting where you supposed that McGreevy was choosing that town because of such services.

Right of Center is just trying to throw us off the track...he's probably a fat, gay mobster like Vito on the Sopranos. Perhaps he'll check into a motel just like Vito did.
PS - Trolls are wankers.

anon,
true I suppose. So I am glad to have explained myself.
I must admit I didn't read the entire page. Only searched for "beard removal" and saw a list of places in Plainfield.
I must admit that I am not 100% "attentive" to the myriad ways a joke might be taken. I do not fully analyze each and every potential PC infraction.

MIC-least we forget our "gay" Governor was also a Domestic Abuser in his "striaght" life or doesn't he tell it that way in his book.
Posted by: cstarling | Apr 10, 2006 2:21:52 PM
This I didn't know, CStarling...kind of ironic since he signed an anti-domestic violence bill into law in 2003.

We know Sack is NY, but if a New Yorker is going to spend over 400 grand on a wedding, trust me -- they don't go to Leonards of Great Neck.

"MIC-least we forget our "gay" Governor was also a Domestic Abuser in his "striaght" life or doesn't he tell it that way in his book."
Really?
It doesnt surprise me though...a lot of people with such severe internalized homophobia end up doing a lot of things to hurt themselves (like the very risky things he was doing sexually that could have and did put his entire career and life in jeopardy) or that hurt others (like, physical violence, etc).
