No Birkenstocks in Montclair!?!?

Redcheetah_1

It was a very interesting evening in Montclair -- including where we went after our visit to Red Cheetah. More on that later -- meanwhile, Baristanet was shocked to hear what happened to our beloved Katie and Mark. Seems like someone really may have to spank the Cheetah.

We called up this afternoon to see if birkenstocks for men were okay and they said yes. Then we showed up and they said we couldn't come in with Mark wearing them. That was a great waste of my time.

Katie: What are you surprised at this gross display of snobbishness? If Mark wore Birkenstocks to The Great Notch Inn, Egan's or Tierney's, this would not be an issue, trust me.

What=Why

Posted by: Miss Martta | Apr 29, 2006 10:39:47 PM

I'm just angry I spent time getting ready for those assholes to tell us we couldn't come in with stupid sandals on.

Posted by: katie | Apr 29, 2006 10:49:12 PM

I would be angry, too. I mean, women wear open-toed shoes so why can't men? Are they afraid his little toesie-woesies will affect their bottom line? GMAB!

Posted by: Miss Martta | Apr 29, 2006 10:51:53 PM

I can't understand if they thought we'd offend the other baristanet readers with him wearing $100 sandals.

Posted by: katie | Apr 29, 2006 10:55:51 PM

I want someone to organize another meeting of the baristanet people so I can meet the people at a place that lets us wear sandals.

Yeah, that's no way to treat a veteran.

I went and had a great time. My wife and I danced all night and surprisingly to us the music was great. I also called about the dress code and was told no sneakers no ripped up jeans no cut offs etc. so I would assume no sandals too. Great place Cheetah I will be back Thank you

I just realized your post was at 10:24 last night. You mean to tell us that you went straight home right after just to post this. Did you even go there at all? Did anyone elsa have a good time? How many actually went there? Well the misses and I had a good time.

Posted by: LMAO | Apr 30, 2006 10:09:32 AM

Hey Mark.. you're welcome here anytime, w/ sandals.. AS a matter of fact, Mister can come w/ you barefoot.

Yep!

Posted by: JT | Apr 30, 2006 10:29:03 AM

Oh we went there, we wanted our free drinks. But he was not allowed. Then we came home to look for shoes but I knew he didn't have any. So I posted that comment sad about missing the free drink/middle-aged people dancing and then we went to Applebee's.

Posted by: katie | Apr 30, 2006 12:10:04 PM

"sad about missing the free drink/middle-aged people dancing"...whew, maybe I'm glad I didn't go...it aint pretty seeing the Iceman 'gettin' down like cooter brown' on the dance floor.

Posted by: Iceman | Apr 30, 2006 12:12:34 PM

Iceman, If I knew you were in there getting down I would have bought Mark a new pair of shoes just to see it. Next time you will be, and we'll be there.

Posted by: katie | Apr 30, 2006 12:16:19 PM

Katie: all you guys had to do was tell them he had a foot injury while in the service......a little white lie? Perhaps. but idiots who refused you entry deserve it. I suggest a Birkenstock Baristanet Party in Mark's honor....In NYC, at the finest of venues with a dress requirement, there are no show requirements as long as you're not barefooted. The nerve. They must of thought you were rebels or whatever. They owe you and the rest of us an explanation and a few freebies!!

Posted by: DiPoz | Apr 30, 2006 12:40:04 PM

It's all good Katerz...we're going to get totally sloshed this week when I move into my apartment, eh?

Posted by: jennn | Apr 30, 2006 12:41:57 PM

Right on Dipoz,
can u imagine if Mark had said he was recovering from wounds suffered in Iraq, do u think he would have been denied entrance? Time for the community to meet someplace where Mark and Katie can feel wanted.

"do a little dance
make a little love
get down tonight...
get down tonight"

Posted by: Iceman | Apr 30, 2006 12:43:41 PM

...I mean sloshed with lemonade.

Did you yell at them for saying on the phone that he could wear them? If you guys ever go next time, then Mark can just borrow my red/green/yellow plaid Keds, since I'm not exactly sure what kind of invisible foot injury would force someone to have to wear Birkenstocks.

The same thing happened to me at this bar in Seaside Heights. My shirt was 3/4 sleeves with polka dots...and they said no tshirts, even though the only similarity between this dressy shirt and a not so dressy tshirt was that it was made of 100% unadulterated, sweet, comfy cotton.

Maybe they would have let in Mark if he was wearing socks underneath his sandals.

Posted by: freddy krueger | Apr 30, 2006 12:56:11 PM

$100 sandals? Now THAT offends me! ;=)

Seriously, I'm glad I didn't try to go, at this point I don't own any shoes either that would have gotten me past the door. (Unless they'd decide that my $89 black leather New Balance walkers aren't "sneakers.")

Posted by: crank | Apr 30, 2006 12:56:12 PM

I'm at the age that if my shoes aren't welcome in an establishment, then I don't need to patronize said establishment.

Posted by: Miss Martta | Apr 30, 2006 2:22:03 PM

'it must be the shoes'...i don't get that a guy wearing $100/sandals can't get in buy some broad wearing 'Payless' pumps for $19.99 is considered well dressed.

Posted by: Iceman | Apr 30, 2006 2:29:04 PM

buy = but

Posted by: Iceman | Apr 30, 2006 2:30:16 PM

"I stepped up on the platform
The man gave me the news
He said, You must be joking son
Where did you get those shoes?"
Steely Dan

Posted by: pissant | Apr 30, 2006 2:34:05 PM

I called the Red Cheetah...they said that Steely Dan is NOT allowed.

Posted by: jennnnn | Apr 30, 2006 2:40:41 PM

JT: That Hogsbreath place kinda reminds me of the Tiki Bar in Manasquan.

Posted by: Miss Martta | Apr 30, 2006 2:53:03 PM

God I love the Hog's Breath Saloon in Key West! Great place.

Posted by: rudebuddha | Apr 30, 2006 2:56:19 PM
