How do tulip growers keep the squirrels from digging up all the bulbs?

I love that house! And I love the way it's painted. And the gardens. . .

I agree-although there was much ado about nothing when the house was redone (obviously a "taste" issue--those gardens are fab)--Spring's flowers are just a pure JOY!

Was there? I must have missed that. My eyes just feast on that house every time I pass it.

I don't know the house or the garden but that pic is another masterpiece by Mr. Surbeck!!

We love that house almost as much as the door on the house at 303 Upper Mountain Ave (you know that door).

appletony, not just "How do tulip growers keep the squirrels from digging up all the bulbs?"
But how, also, do they keep the squirrels from eating/breaking the flowers off once they bloom?
I ONCE had a garden in my yard with beautiful flowers grown from bulbs. Two years into into, all the freakin' mutant squirrels would decapitate all the blooms leaving nothing but green stems.

JusteL: Set up a bird feeder with a variety of seeds (and nuts if you're feeling generous) well away from the flowers -- the squirrels probably won't bother the flowers anymore. I've never had a problem with squirrels eating my bulb flowers. Watch -- when I get home today they'll probably all be chewed to the ground.

"How do tulip growers keep the squirrels from digging up all the bulbs?"
I scatter orange peels amongst the flower beds to keep the squirrels at bay. This has to be done at least once every two weeks but it seems to work.

Orange peels (fresh ones) work to keep cats away, too. we use orange peels in our potted plants at home to keep our cat away from them.
