Have You Heard?

It was the week of waiting for a lot of seniors -- waiting for those college acceptance letters. If you've got some good news share it here, commisserate if you've got a wait-listed kid or bring all your off-topic ramblings here to the chat thread...

Oh, and if you feel the need to spam us with "poop" comments or use another poster's name and email address, expect your verbiage to be deleted and possibly your IP banned. Thanks and have a great day!

Instead of the ip if you could ban the id I think all would be well again.

Posted by: Right of Center™ | Mar 31, 2006 4:06:58 PM

IP makes more sense.

Posted by: katie | Mar 31, 2006 4:10:14 PM

since blocking the id is not possible (though it *would* be better) the ip is the only choice.

Posted by: Right of Center™ | Mar 31, 2006 4:14:00 PM

That'll be the day, when you can block the id. Just think how dull human interaction would be, though.

Way to be tough, Barista.

Posted by: walleroo | Mar 31, 2006 4:17:44 PM

Yeah but if you block the ID (were it possible) the person will just make up new ID's. But if you block the IP they can never comment again unless they use a different computer.

Posted by: katie | Mar 31, 2006 4:19:54 PM

id not ID katie.

Posted by: Right of Center™ | Mar 31, 2006 4:21:32 PM

Oh just great, I should have known you guys would captialize the letters correctly if you meant it that way. Next time I will think again.

If you kid doesn't get into the college of their choice, they could enlist in the Army and help liberate Iraq.

Posted by: RadonMan | Mar 31, 2006 4:31:50 PM

here's looking at "you kid"

I look forward to the day when we can ban egos, and particularly superegos.

Let Go My Ego--Dead Milkmen

Posted by: Miss Martta | Mar 31, 2006 4:37:29 PM

What about my id?

Posted by: pissant | Mar 31, 2006 4:38:28 PM

My subconscious mind
Has got me in a bind
Your love has made me blind
Let go my ego!

I feel the cold wind blow
It feels like 10 below
I'm feelin' oh, so low
Let go my ego!

I need some recreation
I got some strange sensations
I can't deal with relations

Now my superego
Is sayin' no, no, no
I think I'll listen to some early Brian Eno

I try to keep a lid
On my crazy id
I don't know what I did
Let go my ego!

I'm beginning to lose my patience
I'm feelin' some bad vibrations
Wanna join the United Nations

My psychoanalyst says I have a low self esteem
My psychoanalyst wants to know what I dream
What does it mean?

I just want out alive
I'm trying to survive
It's like a real life game
A' Stratego

I keep hittin' the bomb
And I can't stand calm
I wanna call my mom
Let go my ego!

I need a long vacation
I'm feelin' bad vibrations
I can't deal with relations

My psychoanalyst says I gotta tend my mind
Like a garden, I gotta weed it from time to time

I'm feelin' deep deep blue
I don't know whadda do
Ah, honey, where are you?
Let go my ego!

I got some good advice
But at a heavy price
I try to act real nice
Let go my ego!

Let go my ego! [x4]

So, *she* smacks a cop and *she's* the "victim"?

She's "flush" with race cards, I see.

Democrats, gotta love 'em!

"I said have you heard...Johannesburg"...I dig Gil Scott-Heron. He made hip music in the 60s...loved the flute solos.

Enjoy the weekend, all you Labbies and Labbettes!

I remain curious about what happened during Restaino's day in court. Gratified the coprophiilia has been stanched for at least a while. Will the rote hostility to conservatism be next?

I also hope all those college seniors got in where they wanted to go. And that all those who play football, weigh 250+ and have 4.2 speed (either sex is fine) choose Columbia. Or Army, if they must.

And watch out for those ids. Remember the monster from one in "Forbidden Planet?"

Posted by: cathar | Mar 31, 2006 5:35:44 PM

"Democrats, gotta love 'em!"

Yes, you do, ROC. Even Nelson Rockefeller knew you had to be a democrat if you wanted to get laid. The only reason he registered republican was a clause in the trust fund...

my daughter was accepted to her 1st choice-emerson college. she is a hard-working kid. waitresses every weekend and gets good grades. i am a single mom and very proud of her.

Posted by: pentimento | Mar 31, 2006 5:50:48 PM

Well, Conan, all of my (ahem) "relations" have been with liberal democrats. But I suppose you'll say that makes some kind of sense.

Posted by: Right of Center™ | Mar 31, 2006 6:02:43 PM

pentimento, my congrats both to you and your daughter. May the financial aid flow copiously as well.

Posted by: cathar | Mar 31, 2006 6:11:15 PM

Yes, pentimento, congratulations! Sounds like you did a great job raising her.

Posted by: latebloomer | Mar 31, 2006 6:23:03 PM

pentimento, great news about your daughter. Congratulations to her and good luck! (Good work mom!)

ID banning is good. There are only so many computers at the public libraries and hotel lobbies.

Question: does a laptop computer with wireless connection have one ID or multiple IDs when it connects with remote hot spots?
