...serving up your daily dish.
Talk about your killjoys. Telling people to eat healthy on Super Bowl Sunday? Isn't that akin to serving a crudites platter instead of birthday cake to three-year-olds? From MSNBC...
With the Pittsburgh Steelers in the big game, lots of fans will also be munching a lot of "Roethlis-burgers," a sandwich named for Steelers' quarterback Ben Roethlisberger that's loaded with beef, sausage, barbecue sauce, egg and several kinds of cheese. Topped with ranch dressing, the burgers boast a whopping 615 calories and 46 grams of fat, according to Recipezaar.com.
I got heartburn just reading that, but there's nothing wrong with the occasional platter of nachos. What are you serving (and washing it down with)...

On my menu: Fried calamari, potato skins, buffalo wings, (beef) pigs in a blanket and nachos, of course...all homemade. Nothing lo-cal. Watching the Super Bowl and not eating fat and carbs would be like eating cottage cheese while tailgating!!
Sure wish those Giants were playing, though, huh, Iceman?!?

Luv the menu 'Surrounded' and couldn't agree more about our G-Men.
And there'll be no cottage cheese or yogurt during game time.
Carbs rock

This thread's as "open" as any, I guess --
Yesterday I was driving down Claremont when I became aware of a flurry of frantic motion reflected in my rearview mirror. I took a glance. I beheld a woman driving an SUV, having a cell phone conversation on her perfectly legal hands-free headset, so enraged at the person on the other end of the phone that she was gesticulating furiously with both hands.
Noooo, cell phone conversations don't distract you from driving at all, not one whit.
Thank God the road was straight at that point.

My menu, for a party of two, is a mix of casual and upscale items. Pulled pork sandwiches from R.U.B. Hut. Potato salad from Linda's Chicken (West Caldwell). Champagne from Veuve Cliquot. Magic cookie bars for dessert.

Judging from the recipe and photo, I think I had must've had some magic cookie bars during the Christmas eating season. They are awesomely good!

Homepopped popcorn, smuggled into the movies to see Nanny McPhee with my daughter.

I'll be watching the game with a batch of mozzerlla sticks, cheese curds, cheetos, cheese fries, cheese nips, and a hunk of cracker barrel to wrap it up. Oh wait, maybe some buffalo wings, and then you can bury me. Go Iron City! Do it for Franco and Mean Joe!
Posted by: Teeny | Feb 4, 2006 9:40:26 PM
LOL...Teeny! You got me with the "nips". For some odd reason I can feel my arteries! Not as much, though, as I'll feel 'em tomorrow after my spuds ala cheddar 'n bacon! :)

Eating her curds and whey.

Who sat down beside her
And said,"you're not in Kansas anymore"

had 2 types of chili (meat & vegetarian), some awesome spicy chicken/cheese dip, the classic pigs in a blanket, veggies/dip, some foo-foo mini quiche/pastry type things, LOTS of wine (can you tell - LOL!), awesome homemade cheesecake, a pittsburg football shaped cake (thank god they won, how embarrising if they didn't). I actually sat throught the entire game - a first for me. The wine helped!
