The Cheapest I've seen is a Gulf station (I think) on Valley up near rt 3. It was 2.09 when I went by on Thursday and it is consistently the lowest.

2.08 at Worocco on Franklin Ave. in Nutley (outer Baristaville)

I've never seen any place cheaper than Costco in Clifton, and you don't have to be a memeber to buy gas (or use the pharmacy which is also always cheaper).

Enrite on Main St. Little Falls. Paid about $2.26 for Super on Thursday.

Conan I have a question-why do you buy super?

Posted by: cstarling | Feb 18, 2006 9:15:37 AM

Yesterday (Friday) the Gulf on Valley Road in Clifton, just before Rts 3 & 46
was $ 2.05

how bout a thread to find the cheapest 6-pack of Heineken? Thank you sir I'll have another

It bears repeating: cheapest gas is almost always the Gulf on Valley just south of Route 3. Just look for the line of cars.

Posted by: appletony | Feb 18, 2006 10:59:36 AM

How far will you all drive to save fifty cents?

Posted by: crank | Feb 18, 2006 12:06:29 PM

Cosco in clifton-2.03-no line today---was there anyway so i figured I'd fill it up.

Posted by: cstarling | Feb 18, 2006 2:01:09 PM

Yes, there's always a line at that Gulf station. Must be cheap.

I discovered myself why anybody would buy high-octane gas, cstarling, about a year ago when we bought a car with a bigger engine than our usual rust buckets. That bigger engine not only costs more and burns more gas, but it requires premium.

Posted by: walleroo | Feb 18, 2006 4:30:56 PM

cstarling,

Because I drive an automobile with a high-compression engine and it needs the additional octane. Life is too short to be vroom-less. For an extra $6 or $8 bucks a month I think it's worth it.

BTW: we were also at Costco in Clifton today around noon (not for gas) and the lines were about six cars deep.

I only ask because a friend of mine is a professional race car driver and he swears regular is just fine for most cars.

I must have just missed you I was at Shoprite by then--i had made it just in time today it seems as I was leaving in both places the crowds were forming.

It was actually the first time I did the gas thing in Cosco because I refuse to sit idling behind fifteen cars---

Regular is fine for most cars. A lot of people think that by putting a tank of extra in every once in a while it does their engines good. Not true, and it can even do harm in these days of computer-controlled fuel injection and ignition timing. But if you have a high-compression engine, you need to use at least 89 octane and some manufacturers specify 93.

I used to do that -"treat" my car-then he told me don't-so now I just "treat Myself to a skim chai latte from Starbucks

Posted by: cstarling | Feb 19, 2006 9:59:42 AM

You could save a bunch of money by staying out of Starbucks... all of their prices are at the High-Test-Leaded-Gas-Gas-Guzzler level! :)

Does anyone know who sells the least expensive heating oil without a contract?
