could you be more specific? what, exactly, is the issue here? or is it just the usual nimby-ism?

"NIMBY" becomes important if a person lives in a protected historic district. Check out the front page of this past Thursday's Independent Press for the details.

Where exactly are they putting these things? What I know of the district (and I admit I am not sure of the exact borders) I can't imagine where there is room for them OR are they wanting to knock something down...
I also can't imagine how they plan to do this- knowing all the heavy planning and stuff the College had to go through a few years ago when the library went up and they had to actually move those 2 historic homes

On the end of Church Street right where it dead-ends by the circa 1796 Old First Presbyterian Church. They want to tear down the large mansion there at 15 Church Street (now being used as a boarding house operation) and crowd 11 townhouses onto that one site in a 1-family residential zone. Next Zoning Board meeting is March 9th. This will be the third meeting covering that application.

WOW no way is that site big enough for 11 townhouses,,

To say nothing about the fact that the owners want to tear down the old home that's there now. What is the point of having a historic distric if every tom, dick or harry can tear down the existing structure??

This application epitomizes bad development!

Todd, I hope you and anyone else who feels the same will attend the March 9th Zoning Board meeting and make your feelings known. If you can't attend please write a letter, care of the ZB secretary, for her to pass on to the Board.
