...serving up your daily dish.
Many people in Baristaville, and particularly 1995 graduates of Glen Ridge Ridge High School, were saddened to hear about the untimely death last month of Dara Alison Caggiano of Montclair. Caggiano, 28, died of a complication from severe asthma. Last night, the Adam Niewood Trio played in his former classmate's memory at Trumpets, raising money for asthma research, PAWS Animal Shelter and St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Thanks for the coverage, Barista.
My girlfriend works with Dara's Dad and has known Dara since she was 8 or 9. Dara died of an asthma attack the Monday before Thanksgiving.
I was there last night with my girlfriend, the extended Caggiano family and friends and believe me there was a special vibe in the air.
I've never been a parent so it's hard for me to know the agony but losing a child must be a parents worst nightmare.

Thank you also Debbie for posting this event on your Thrills page. My daughter graduated with Dara from GRHS in 1995. Coincidently the weekend before Dara died Dana was talking to me about her, and remembering what an outstanding person she was, and how loved she was by all that knew her. I hope that her family can find comfort in the fact that she will always be remembered with love by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Last night was sad for me, but wonderful… There was a very nice turn-out. Many family, friends, and work colleagues of Dara. It was hard for me not to get emotional in public (it wasn’t until the car-ride home that I finally broke down)… It was a confusing evening – in that I was so very happy to see all these folks that I had not been in contact with for 10 years, yet I was so sad inside and wanted to just cry. My only regret is that such a nice reunion became a reality due to such tragic circumstances.
Thanks to Lisa Potter (also a 95’ graduate of Glen Ridge High School, who helped collect the charitable donations while I was performing) we were able to raise a lot of money in Dara’s memory. Such a good night: good music, great people, and a positive use of sad emotions. Dara was in the room, and with all of us.
Sincerely,
Adam Niewood

Thank you all for your wonderful comments about Dara. She will forever be my own little angel.
Adam thank you for the performance and it was special- like you and your family.
We will always remember it.
Someone asked if dara was related to Dr Caggiano.
Yes she is - Anthony is my 2nd cousin.
Thanks again to all.
