This Just In

Tip: Bloomfield High School just evacuated. UPDATE: We hear, unofficially, that it was just a malfunctioning fire alarm and that nobody is in danger. Will update as we get info.

What happened? I live behind it. Where's the story?

I'll take a wild ass guess that some kid "smelled something" for the umpteenth time this school year. Hopefully nothing more serious.

Uh. That's nice. I agree...where's the story? At least an inkling? My daughter is there. Should I be freaking or is it a drill? More 'fumes'? What, what, what???

Alarm malfunction according to a post at NJ.com.

Posted by: Surrounded | Nov 9, 2005 10:01:57 AM

I spoke directly to one of Bloomfield's Bravest (Fire Dept). This was an "alarm malfunction" and the cause of the malfunction will be investigated. I personally have the utmost confidence in the BFD and as long as they are involved, I know my kids will be taken care of.

Hey, montclairiscrazy, thanks for automatically assuming some kid at BHS made up the problem.... maybe you can get a job in Bloomfield administration?

Thanks, deletme. Didnt' hear too much of a commotion around town, so I wasn't too worried. But nice to hear more of what's going on.

how bout those elections?

Barista should open up a chat line for each town. Would put NJ.com chat out of business (like Localsource) overnight. They censor arbitrarily to say the least. It isn't for bad words, I can't figure what it's for, but it can be galling.

Friday 11/4 talent show at Glen Ridge, Ridgewood Ave School also had false fire alarms, evacuating the audience and causing the show to start late.

By the way guys, we went to Trumpets. the place is warm and comfy and Eddie Skuller was really good and interesting performer. The vodka sauce pasta was tasty. Eddie did a cool version of some Smithereens song.
