...serving up your daily dish.
Anyone from Baristaville running in the NYC Marathon this year (Nov. 6)? I didn't get in this year but I wonder if we have any other marathoners on the board.

My sister-in-law is running. Does that count? She's travelling from the midwest for this. I've never been to... any info appreciated!

Interesting articlesin the NYT yesterday about the dangers of drinking too much water during a marathon or other race. I'd be obsessed about dehydration, which is seldom a problem. People drink way too much water sometimes and it has led to death. And it doesn't help when some medic picks you off the street and shoves an IV in your arm. Worth clipping and sending to any marathoner types you know.

Yeah, this is a constant subject of coversation among my fellow runners. Evidently, drinking too much water dilutes potassium and other minerals in your blood and is just as dangerous, if not more so, than not taking in enough fluids.
There are so any factors involved, too: your weight, your experience/ability as a runner, climate, distance...all these need to be taken into consideration.

LOL, MyManMisterc...how you managed to segway yours and Emily's anniversary with baseball...well, that's just pure genius. And, if my boyfriend ever did such a thing, I'd kill him...:-)

Good scream, Mister C. Just one emendation:
"See, when you are psychotic Red Sox fan, these things make a difference."
"psychotic Red Sox fan" is repetitively and iteratively redundant. Especially here in "Master of the Universe Nation."

Anyone have any ideas on how to stay awake at work? 2 hours and 34 minutes until the weekend. Nothing left to do besides just be here. I don't know if I can make it..........
How about everyone shares a favorite quote or proverb? I'm too tired to think of one.

Dive and swim
In the amber ocean
See all that you can
In this new emotion -
And embrace it now
Before it's skin sheds
For there is no drinking,
After your dead.

Have heard it attributed to Socrates, not sure.

Question...
If I wrote the township of Montclair a check for monthly parking on the 1rst of this month shouldn't it have cleared by now?
How often do they deposit checks?

Is Corzine running for Gov. cause he knows that he's too old to wait around for a plum Senate committee assignment?
Does he have the passion to be a Governor or is he running cause he wants something to do where he thinks he can make a name for himself? I'm afraid that if he wins the next thing he's gonna say is "now what"?

Are they going to tear down the old Woolworth's building in Bloomfield Center to put up that new Washington Mutual Bank branch? I'll miss that old building. It was my landmark when I'd walk from the campus of Upsala to go to Bloomfield almost 25 years ago.
Guess I'm getting sentimental in my dotage.

My boyfriend stopped in to visit me at work, so I'm happy again. (besides, it's only 35 minutes til the weekend now) So, per my own request...

And for Iceman....
Why do we park in the driveway and drive on the parkway?
Have a super weekend, everyone!
