...serving up your daily dish.
We've confirmed a rumor we heard about Montclair Public Library's main branch and the long vacant Isabel Rose Cafe. Fortunately, it's good news. The cafe will reopen later this month (date TBA), with a new vendor in place. The publicity-shy vendor, who required some modifications to the existing space, wanted time to get the java flowing, but suffice it to say, it's an independent Montclair business with a loyal, caffeinated following.

I'm betting it's the wonderful coffee beans place on Church St, no?

Let the java flow - but will folks leave StarBucks and flood the library's coffee cafe?
Perhaps in the warm weather the Library's Cafe should offer outdoor seating - just like the tables and chairs that are placed outside the two Montclair StarBucks locations on Valley Road and on Bloomfield Avenues.
As an aside - parking in close proximity to the library is a problem....

I don't think it's really about people leaving other existing coffee houses to come to the one at the library. Rather it's about being at the library and having a nice place to grab a coffee and sit a few minutes. Also, as someone who frequents one of the groups that meets there, it will be great to have a chance to eat or drink something other than the vending machine options! It's been a mystery as to why no one could make a success of this space in the past. Hopefully this one's the charm!

Eclectic, maybe? I'm rooting for a Beans exhibition (So many tasty things, a nice cafe somewhere nearby would drive sales, I'd think), but I think it's unlikely. As much as I adore Bluestone, I don't know that they'd be first on the list. Still, I'd love to have that Sumatran Mandheling a little closer to home. When I'm there, anyway.

Unless it's greatly changed since I long ago decided not to go there, the cafe was a cold stone, glass and metallic place, not at all a warm and welcoming place to read and have a cup of properly made tea (the rarest of commodities). :) Here's to a good cup of tea and a cozy read!
