Meet Me at the Washington Monument and Bring Your Second

When somebody insults the honor of the state of New Jersey, even on Fox TV, Congressman Bill Pascrell rises to the bait is ready at our defense.

From today's Roll Call, the Capitol Hill newspaper, coverage of yesterday's TV duel between Pascrell and the yappy Patrick McHenry of North Carolina.

The GOP's attack dog-in-training, freshman Rep. Patrick McHenry (N.C.), unwittingly took on the entire state of New Jersey on Wednesday when he tried to sink his teeth into Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.) on Fox News television.

The two lawmakers were discussing - what else? - the indictment of House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R) in Texas when McHenry cut Pascrell off, saying he couldn't believe a Congressman from New Jersey had the audacity to talk about ethics. Oooohhh. If you know Pascrell, you know what happened next.

As one TV witness said, "He flipped out." Then Pascrell demanded an apology from McHenry, to all of New Jersey.

"I don't care about me. I'll take care of myself," the tough-talking Pascrell, still fuming, told HOH later. "I told him, 'You insulted everybody in the state of New Jersey.'"

Pascrell delivered that speech to McHenry when the young lawmaker approached the much larger (and seemingly angrier) Pascrell later on the House floor. "He came up and said, 'I wanted to see you before you saw me.' I said, 'Oh, it's you.' He said, 'Look, I apologize.'"

Easy Congressman. Remember what happened to Alexander Hamilton.

Snappy comebacks to "... the yappy Patrick McHenry of North Carolina."

"Give me Liberty or Give Me Agita!"

"I have now disposed of all my property to my family... with the exception of my stock in Bill Frist's conglomerate."

"The great object is that every man be armed. No problem."

"You want ethics? We are a very mult-ethic state. I got ethics for you right here!"

You can call that mutt McHenry(R) at 202.225.2576 and let him know what you think.

New Jersey is the shinning center of this whole friggen country.

I'm happy he stood up for the Garden State. I get pretty tired of people slurring New Jersey on the TV. I am New Jersey born and bred. I've traveled to many places in the US and Europe. I loved many of them for many reasons (Spain most recently), but NJ is my home and I love it best. Okay, so I was ready to look for a job in Barcelona, but that is a really amazing place. Still, don't knock New Jersey to me. I approve of Pascrell getting huffy about it. Huff on, Congressman Bill. Frogsdong is with you. Frogsdong will support you to his dying breath, or until I move to Barcelona. Geez, the food there was amazing. Stay out of those joints along Las Ramblas. Pretty much any little lunch shop is better than those places. And the coffee! Aiiee! So good. The beach was great, too. Really, you gotta...um...ahem...YES! New Jersey is wonderful and don't you dare say anything bad about it.

Oh, and the meme about NJ political corruption has now officially been so often repeated as to have become meaningless and less believable, like the whole "Methinks she doth protest too much" bit, ya know? It starts to sound like someone has an agenda that doesn't involve clean government now.

Won't be the first time a chickenshit Republican gets the shit beat out of him by an NJ Dem.

Chill out...your ignorance is unbecoming.

Marshall--NJ has a lot of tough folks, at the Giants game on Sunday eve a 5'4" female Giants fan bloodied the heck out of a 6'4" male Chargers fan. Sadly, the SD fans have apparantely taken lessons from Oakland fans on classlessness.

Bill Pascrell getting rankled by the confidence of a much younger adversary???

hmmm, sounds familiar somehow...

McHenry was correct though. New Jersey is the scum-bucket of America. No one can really deny this.
