...serving up your daily dish.
From Buzzmachine, we learn that CBS News' Jim Axelrod is blogging as part of his story on soaring gas prices. Axelrod, who lives in Montclair and is on the road with a small crew in a Dodge Caravan, shows he was born to blog with some playful snarkiness...
The only other problem is cameraman Laganga's hissy fit about stopping at a Wawa convenience store for breakfast rather than something more full-service. I thought a hardened veteran combat photographer who's made multiple tours of Iraq would shrug this off. But that's just me.
Sorry, Jim, Wawa does not a breakfast make. Especially when the network is paying. Meanwhile, it's never to early to worry about winter heating bills...
From the Star Ledger, folks who have "locked in" are patting themselves on the back:
Rich Rapiti is paying nearly 60 cents more per gallon for heating oil this year than last winter, but the radio consultant from Glen Ridge considers himself lucky to have locked in a price of $2.09. He hears some people may be paying as much as $2.75 this year.
"It's the best deal in town," says Rapiti of his contract with the New Jersey Citizen Action Oil Group, a cooperative with about 3,000 members. "My gut tells me heating prices are going through the roof."

Anybody using this oil co-op? I've heard about it before and I'm tempted. I'm curious about things like service contracts on your hardware, though.

I checked out 2 such groups at the end of June. Beware of the details they supply regarding the costs and details of service contracts and tank insurance. I got more accurate info by speaking directly with the oil supplier that they'd assign to you. They'll tell you who that will be if you ask.
I was also able to lock in at a much better price (.20+ cents/gl less) than the co-op's offer by signing on with the local company.

The question after returning from tours in Iraq is not whether he can tolerate breakfast at Wawa's, but rather if he doesn't deserve something better.
