...serving up your daily dish.
About 50 Montclair residents have had their cars ransacked over the past few months, and thieves have made off with cash, cameras, cell phones and laptops, the Montclair police department tells us. In just about all these cases, the cars were left unlocked.
A week ago, Montclair police arrested three out-of-town suspects believed to have been involved with a Pine Street area car break-in. In that case, though, a car window was broken. The unlocked-car burglaries, meanwhile, have continued since those arrests.
I'm surprised that people are leaving their cars unlocked in this day and age. The only person I know that leaves her car unlocked is my grandmother - and she lives in a one stoplight town in southern Virginia, population 400.

At least the thieves aren't stealing the aars, like they are in GR (or maybe they are...)

I rememember my dad yelling at me when I was 18 and didn't lock my car to run into a 7-11. "I'll only be gone for a minute," I said. "That's all the time a thief needs to steal a car," he answered. To this day, I lock my car no matter where I am or how long I'll be gone.

Gee, how come no one ever breaks into my car to steal all the books that are in the back seat???? The books are always untouched. Amazing!
And help me here, what is that joke about the car left unlocked with two bagpipes in it? Please help me remember that one.
