Job Well Done
The contractors building the Crescent parking garage have a very special group of construction supervisors - the Mothers Morning Out preschoolers across the street. For months these young builders of the future have been watching the garage grow from the foundations up, and have also forged a close relationship with the construction crew. In this picture a worker shares high fives today after another large precast building panel is lifted to the sky.

Yesterday, concerned about the heat, the kids brought the workers lemonade, and then watched fascinated as the lemonade was hoisted to the workers on one of the panels. Blanchard Construction's Bill O'Neill holds up a note thanking the crew for talking to the kids over the last couple months about how buildings go together.

Some schools might be less than thrilled to have a major construction site across the street, but school director Wendy Westock (a big Baristanet fan as it happens) has clearly found a way to turn lemons into lemonades. She says the credit is all to the workers, who are wonderful with the kids.

This is what the youngsters have been watching recently - large precast concrete panels being lifted to become part of the building's exterior wall.

Prior to lifting, cables from the crane are attached to four points along the top of the panel.

The new panel has exposed vertical reinforcing steel bars that fit into precisely drilled holes in the panel below.

Each new panel is sighted through a cross hair scope to insure that the panel is vertical.

Oh, a letter from Noelle's class! Both my kids had her, and we all adored her!
But is there a double meaning behind "We thought you looked hot, so we brought you lemonade"?

I'm thinking what you're thinking. And that KTU tee is saying to me that maybe, just maybe the man can dance, too.
The MMO folks rock -- what a cool thing for the kids to do!

Hard hats off to Wendy and the crew at MMO. Only Noelle would manage to work in a reference to an Apatosaurus in a thank you note to a construction crew. (Noelle, even after all these years my son can still say "Parasauralophus" without a hitch.) We miss you guys!
