...serving up your daily dish.
Or merely a flop? A flurry of e-mails we've received today about the Marlboro Inn suggested that Steve Plofker had flipped the property, selling it to another developer. We did a little investigating and a source -- who wishes to remain off the record -- insists the rumors are hogwash and plans for the property remain the same. What may be causing some of the confusion/speculation about ownership sounds more like a change in the players involved in Marlboro Inn development. Regardless of who else is in on the project, we hear Plofker is still in the game and remains very much involved.

Love the architectural style and hip-hop decor. Have you called Architectural Digest yet?

Well, that sets my heart at ease.

Fascinating. The wheels of the machine are whirring away. The Plofker-Remsen axis has thought many steps ahead of the rest of us. What do they have in mind? This is probably the first of many ownership changes, from one bland Jersey development company to the next, eventually to some foreign-sounding shell company out of the Cayman Islands. Some apparently independent event--run up in the price of oil, earthquake, who knows-- will precipitate a crisis that forces the town to change the zoning laws. Suddenly a local developer will appear with permission to build... A commercial mall? Condos? An animal hospital with a glue factory attached?
Wanted: screenwriter with vivid imagination and knowledge of conspiracies and real estate. Local to Montclair preferred.
