The Glen Ridge police have sent out an alert warning residents about a mini-crime wave targeting senior citizens.
During the month of May the Police Department has received two reports of Burglaries involving Diversion tactics. This type of Burglary typically targets Seniors Citizens as the victim.
Both crimes have occurred on Tuesdays in the afternoon hours.
The suspects, white or Hispanic females, enter an unlocked home after observing or confirming that an older resident resides there. Once inside the residence she starts a conversation with the homeowner. She usually tells the homeowner that she works in the area. While the female is distracting the resident one or two other females enter the home and go directly to the second floor where they look for jewelry and cash.
The police department is looking for two or three females, who have been described by witnesses as wearing dark clothing, back packs and baseball caps.
Two of the suspects are described as heavyset and one is described as thin.
All three suspects were seen entering a black SUV type vehicle with a partial New Jersey license plate of "SUB"
If the suspects are seen please contact the Police Department immediately by calling 911 or 973-748-5400.
