High Noon at the Not-So-OK Corral

Pk_corrall We hear there's a showdown going on right now at Bloomfield High School. According to local cowpokes, Bloomfield health sheriff Trevor Weigle showed up uninvited to Bloomfield's Board of Ed meeting last night, and those rancheros told him to come by Bloomfield High this morning.

Weigle and schools deputy Tom Dowd have been a-working up to a standoff for weeks now on the subject of fumes at Bloomfield High. A Barista mug to anybody over those parts who can tell us later today what went down.

The bullets were definitely flying last night in the corral. Deputy Dowd tried to twist the "public health nuisance" issue as the nuisance being the evacuation of classrooms and as such, would have no choice but to continue to evacuate should odors arise. Word on the street has it that Health Director Weigle will dispute Deputy Dowd's contention that all has been rectified, so there will likely be another chapter of confrontation in this corral.

p.s.

my hunch is that the Health Department was going down a "punch list" of items cited in the PMK report dated March 11, reference EWWWWWWWWWWWW!

Dowd knows damn well the difference between a generic nuisance, and a "nuisance" to the public health.

When the hell is his contract terminating?

I can't wait to say DDDD: Done Deal Dowd's Dismissed!

From today's Independent Press:

"This wasn't supposed to be a confrontational meeting with the Board of Health," (Board Member James Decker) said. "The communication between the superintendent and the board, and the project managers, is lacking, to say the least."

Boom! And the gavel came down? (Or, wasn't Mdm President there yet?)

And then there's this, in the Bloomfield Life: "Parents have every reason in the world to be livid. The problem is more than health, it's educational. How can anyone be learning when they are being moved in and out of classrooms?" (Mayor McCarthy)
