March 14
...serving up your daily dish.
The big dilemma on St. Patrick's Day -- do we belly up to the bar at Tierney's or try the much anticipated Egan & Sons -- is now a moot point, since, as the Star Ledger reports, Egan will not open in time for St. Pat's as previously promised.
We're in the last throngs of decoration," Chris Egan said of his pub on Montclair's Walnut Street. He's hired most of the wait staff. He's busy with the woodworkers.
Still, he'll miss St. Patrick's Day. He didn't want a green-behind-the-ears staff spilling drinks on patrons' laps. "It's too big a day to be half-hearted about it," he said. "Next year, we'll be full guns blazing."
Egan & Sons is now scheduled for a late March opening.
