Today's New York Sun (subscription required) features an interview with Larry Dark, Montclair resident and director of the Story Prize, a new literary award for short story writers. The first $20,000 prize will be awarded next week. Dark, who edited the O'Henry Awards short story collections from 1997 to 2002, is married to Alice Elliott Dark, author of "In the Gloaming" and other literary fiction.
Here's the cool part. The literary power couple actually changed their last names to Dark when they got married in 1988. "We thought it was a good name for writers," Dark was quoted in the story as saying. "There weren't any other Darks in the phone book."
