...serving up your daily dish.
New Jersey's other coffee-themed weblog, Coffeegrounds, has a very clever and incisive analysis of Jon Corzine's decision to throw his hat into the governor race.
It includes this gem of a paragraph:
My prediction is that the only candidate who could make a fight of it is Brett Schundler, who is as conservative as conservative can be -- at least for anyone this side of the fever swamps of the flyover. Mr. Schundler could and should ride the pony of property taxes and school costs until it drops dead beneath him and then continue to pull that wagon by hand. If there is any issue which will unite the suburbanites who are willing to vote Republican, that's the one, because right now, two-thirds of a home owner's taxes are going to pay for janitor's vacation time in the Newark Public School System and gold-plated bathroom fixtures in the Camden Mayor's office.
Read it here.
Jon Corzine, has been such a prolific, outspoken and effective leader in the Senate during his long tenure, I am certain he will make a good candidate!

If I were gov, I would want Schundler someplace close where we could hear his ideas and decide which to implement. Living here, I don't think I want him, or Jon Corzine to be governor.

The last time I heard the word "wag" used in that context Earl Wilson still had a column in NY Post.
"A Broadway wag was heard to say Joe Silver reports that his toaster is so old, the toast comes out grey."

Corzine’s job in the Senate (rather than passing any legislation to support his constituents) was to get a Dem majority in the Senate. We see how that turned out. I have to hand it to Schumer and (yes!) even Clinton in NY – they’re always on the local news championing some effort or another with direct impact to the folks who elected them (it was especially nice to see Schumer eschew party politics and support the nomination of Kerick yesterday!) What has Corzine done (or Lautenberg) done lately. Throw their names in the nytimes.com search engine, not much substantive there.
