...serving up your daily dish.

Baristanet correspondent Suzanne O'Connor, of Douglas Road in Glen Ridge, sends this picture of the giant, 100-year red oak that toppled in her yard around 4 am Sunday. "The tree was said to be 'old but in good health' in March when it was trimmed," she writes. "Upon post mortem exam it was noted that the tree was rotted inside." The fallen timber took out power to much of Douglas Road yesterday. No one was hurt.
&ETC. According to this story, Douglas Road in Glen Ridge wasn't the only street to lose power locally. PSE&G reported outtages across Montclair yesterday.

Plenty of those trees to go arround in GR. Luckily all the "bad" trees on Ridgewood Ave were taken down. To bad that the town does not really seem to care about tress off Ridgewood Ave. With the soggy ground more BIG trees will come down if the wind picks up

I haven't seen any fallen trees here in Fair Lawn recently, but I did pick up an errant garbage can in my driveway. I put it with its mates, but I was informed that it wasn't one of ours. Now what do I do? I guess I'll put it back on the street. From the picture it looks like the building/garage was destroyed! Lucky no one was hurt.
