Today's Star-Ledger reports that Steve Plofker personally did the paperwork yesterday to demolish the Marlboro Inn.
According to the story, Plofker applied for the permit immediately after giving a PowerPoint presentation in the mayor's office on his plans for building a hotel on Church Street. Town manager Joseph Hartnett told the paper that there was nothing standing in Plofker's way, but that he would have to give the town 48 hours notice. As of yesterday, that notice had not been given.
Preservationists fighting the move had no immediate reaction.
